Affordable Conveyancing is a quote and introduction service, not a law firm. How you complain depends on whether your concern is about us or about the conveyancing firm acting for you.

Complaints about our service

This covers things like how we handled your quote request, the information on our website, or how we used your personal data. Email hello@affordableconveyancing.co.uk with:

  • your name and contact details
  • what went wrong and when
  • what you'd like us to do to put it right

We'll acknowledge your complaint promptly, look into it fairly and give you a full written response. If we need more time, we'll tell you why. For data protection concerns, our privacy policy also explains how to contact the Information Commissioner's Office.

Once you instruct a conveyancing firm, that firm is responsible for the legal work and for its own service. If you're unhappy with delays, communication, costs or advice, complain to the firm first using the complaints procedure in its client care letter. Every regulated firm must have one.

The firm normally has up to eight weeks to resolve your complaint. If you're still unhappy after that, or you've had a final response you don't accept, you can usually take the complaint to the Legal Ombudsman.

Time limits: according to the Legal Ombudsman (at the time of writing, October 2026), you should normally refer a complaint within six months of the firm's final response, and within one year of the problem happening or of when you became aware of it.

Concerns about a firm's professional conduct, such as dishonesty, can be reported to its regulator: the Solicitors Regulation Authority for solicitors, or the Council for Licensed Conveyancers for licensed conveyancers.
